About
From MyMCAT
You cannot uneducate the person who has learned to read."
- César Chávez
Why
Every student should have an equal chance at success on the MCAT and paying for expensive resources like preparation courses unfairly tips the balance towards people who can afford these exclusive products. Unfortunately, free resources available to study for the MCAT are sparse, poorly organized, and hard to find and so MyMCAT hopes to balance the scale and give everyone an opportunity.
Background
The Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT), designed and administered by the Association of American Medical Colleges is required for admission into medicine by most schools and MyMCAT was designed specifically to assist students with this test. There are numerous companies (kaplan, The Princeton Review, The Oxford Seminars) offering both web services and classroom courses to prepare for the MCAT, however all these companies are grossly overpriced.
MyMCAT
MyMCAT is designed to utilize the power of community development much like Wikipedia. However, because learning requires more than just reading, the project has been expanded to include personalized resources such as tests and quizzes.
Resources
As well as a continually growing encyclopedia of review text, MyMCAT also has topic tests, passage tests, and quizzes throughout the text. In the next few months, we hope to add learning games, flashcards, and personalized score tracking.
Can I make a donation
The only cost in running this website is in time and hosting fees. At the present time, we can afford the monthly hosting fees, so please save your money for something else. We suggest you use your money to buy official AAMC practice MCATs, buy a friend or tutor who has helped you a drink, or donate it to a worthy cause such as Canadian Blood Services.
